Other age groups (8U, 14U) if there is enough interest
Age Eligibility:
8U – Players must be 8 or younger on December 31st to be eligible for 8U the following year.
10U – Players must be 10 or younger on August 31st to be eligible for 10U the following year.
12U – Players must be 12 or younger on August 31st to be eligible for 12U the following year.
14U – Players must be 14 or younger on August 31st to be eligible for 14U the following year.
Philosophy:
Our overarching goal is to provide a quality competitive softball experience to develop girls into exceptional complete ball players while minimizing undue expense and time commitments for families.
CBSL Select Softball focuses on player development including fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship. Our teams will not have a win at all cost mentality. We will continuously work to identify individual player strengths allowing each team to compete at the highest level possible. There is no guarantee of a player’s preferred playing position throughout the year or specific spot in the batting order. Each player is placed in a position that best supports their team and is earned throughout the year via practice and previous games. Some players will play more innings than others in the field, but all will play and all will get a chance to prove themselves at practice at various positions.
Commitment and Schedule:
· Fall (Mid-August thru October):
o Expectation: softball is secondary to in-season activities.
o Outdoor practices: ~1 day/week.
o Games/tournaments: Depending on age group and player schedules, we may participate in some scrimmages, games, and/or tournaments.
· Winter (November thru mid-March)
o Expectation: softball is secondary to in-season activities.
o Indoor practices: ~2-3 days/month.
· Spring/Summer (April thru mid-July):
o Expectation: softball is primary activity over other sports/activities.
o Outdoor practices starting after Centerville Spring Break.
o Practices and games ~3-4 days/week.
o ~25-30 games via combination of league play and local tournaments (tournaments that are close enough to Centerville to not require a hotel stay).
o 12U and 14U teams will work around the school season as required.
o Season end: mid-July.
